Advancing Affirming Care for Transgender and Nonbinary People
Advancing Affirming Care for Transgender and Nonbinary People
Transgender and nonbinary (TNB) individuals experience significant mental and physical health disparities. These disparities are often exacerbated by substantial barriers to accessing affirming healthcare which often stem from limited provider knowledge and systemic bias. This training will deepen participants’ understanding of recent health trends among TNB populations, including barriers to healthcare access, unique patterns regarding intimate and sexual relationships, and sexual and reproductive health considerations. Participants will gain practical tools to assess gender identity and sexual orientation, strategies for inclusive communication, and recommendations for supporting TNB clients and their intimate partners. By centering affirming, evidence-informed practice, this training aims to advance culturally informed care and reduce health disparities for TNB populations.
