Navigating Tech Privacy: Ensuring Confidentiality in Sexual and Reproductive Health Services, Patient Portals, and Information Exchange

These collaborative learning conversations will focus on the complex landscape of confidentiality and privacy in sexual and reproductive health, highlighting newer considerations related to patient portals and expanded data exchange. The sessions will delve into three critical areas:

  • Understanding the Interplay of Regulations: Discuss how federal, state, and other privacy rules impact the management of sensitive health information, with an emphasis on maintaining confidentiality in sexual and reproductive health care.
  • Implementing Confidentiality Measures: Share promising approaches for setting up your systems and establishing policies that uphold privacy, ensuring that your clinic is best equipped to protect sensitive patient information.
  • Scripting Sensitive Conversations: Develop effective communication strategies for navigating delicate situations, such as responding to parental inquiries about a minor’s health information.

These conversations will be facilitated by Jillian Maccini, director of the HITEQ Center and FPAR 2.0 Lead with the Reproductive Health National Training Center, along with the MA SRH Training Center team.
