See the Whole Patient: A New Tool to Screen for Social Determinants of Health (SDOH)
As part of its commitment to health equity, the MDPH Sexual & Reproductive Health Program has a goal that providers screen every patient for social determinants of health (SDOH) needs, consider these needs while providing reproductive health services, and refer patients to appropriate services. Yet in the busy and complex context of a health center, what do we need to plan, implement, and change to make this a reality? How can we ensure appointments are even long enough to explore these needs, never mind whether we are asking the right questions? Join this webinar to start you on the right path. We will explore a suite of materials developed by the Partners in Contraceptive Choice and Knowledge (PICCK) program to support health centers to conduct SDOH screening and referrals, including a two-page, evidence-informed screening questionnaire that was piloted at three Massachusetts health centers with positive results. The webinar will also share information about the technical assistance available to health centers as they work to meet the MA SRHP Standards.
